ASMC - Empowerment Through Advocacy
The Associated Students of Moorpark College (ASMC) Board of Directors is thrilled to grant the Empowerment Through Advocacy Scholarship to Moorpark College students who are making a meaningful impact in the lives of our students and fostering positive change in our college or local community. This can be achieved through involvement in social justice initiatives, inclusivity events, civic engagement, voter empowerment, or any other advocacy-related activities. We welcome and encourage Moorpark College students who are engaged in advocacy to apply.
A total of two (2) students will be awarded $1,000 each. Eligibility Requirements:

ASMC - Non-Resident Scholarship
The Associated Students of Moorpark College (ASMC) Board of Directors is excited to award its Non-Resident Scholarship to Moorpark College (MC) students who pay non-resident tuition. Through this scholarship, ASMC strives to provide aid to students who enroll at Moorpark College but who are not classified as California residents and therefore pay increased or supplemental tuition and fees.

Outstanding Speaker - Pieleat-Morad Award
The Pielaet-Morad award is named after two students who were part of the Moorpark College Forensics Team. David Pielaet and Feras Morad’s time on the team was separated by more than 30 years, but both men embody excellence winning multiple national championships as well as dedication to their communities. Both of their lives were tragically cut short in the summers after they were on the team, David’s in a tragic car accident and Feras as the victim of a senseless murder.
Each year this award is given in their honor to our top student who has completed their competitive career on the team and reflects the values represented by these young men. *The Scholarship Committee basis the selection of recipients on "Best contribution and Leadership" in the Forensics Team. Spirit Memorial Scholarship
This award commemorates Spirit, the mountain lion, who was raised and lived at the Teaching Zoo for over 20 years. Wyman-Strong Forensics
The Wyman-Strong award is named after the two former coaches who founded the team at Moorpark College. Jim Wyman, was the director of Forensics at Moorpark College for nearly four decades, and Dick Strong founded the team in 1971. Together, they built the number one community college forensics program in the nation, while also creating a safe place for students of all ages to discover and develop their talents and use it as a springboard for life success.
